Weighted drill rods play a crucial role in drilling operations, and their correct use is essential for ensuring drilling efficiency, reducing costs, and ensuring the safety of operators.
Firstly, it is necessary to choose a suitable weighted drilling rod: based on the specific requirements and geological conditions of the drilling operation, select the appropriate specifications and materials for the weighted drilling rod. Ensure that the quality of the weighted drill pipe meets relevant standards and requirements.
To install weighted drill rods correctly: During the drilling process, when encountering situations such as drill bit jamming or encountering hard rock layers, weighted drill rods need to be added. Use a hoist to lift the weighted drill pipe into the wellhead, ensuring a tight fit with the drill pipe thread. Use a wrench or other tool to tighten the connection between the weighted drill rods, ensuring that the connection is firm and reliable.
To adjust the position of the weighted drilling rod: When drilling in a horizontal well, adjust the position of the weighted drilling rod according to the construction progress and friction situation in a timely manner. Before entering the window, the weighted drill rod should be placed between the non-magnetic drill collar and the drill rod to reduce the impact of drilling tool swing on directional and wireless instruments. After entering the window, adjust the weighted drill rod as high as possible according to the friction situation to reduce the friction between the drilling tool and the wellbore.
