Short spiral drill bits are primarily used in rotary drilling for efficient drilling in hard formations, serving as key drilling tools for addressing complex geology in large-diameter rotary hole-making operations, with specific applications covering multiple core scenarios and process stages.
🔧 Supporting Construction Technology Application
Graded Drilling Relay: In extremely hard formations such as micro-weathered bedrock, it serves as an intermediate relay drilling tool, forming a complete workflow with barrel-type core drilling bits and sand-retrieving drill buckets: first core extraction, followed by crushing surrounding rock layers with short spiral drill bits, and finally slag retrieval using drill buckets, significantly improving hard rock borehole efficiency.
Pre-crushing assisted drilling: For hard interbedded layers or tightly cemented gravel layers, a short spiral bit is first used to loosen and crush the bottom formation, followed by rapid slag removal with a conventional drill bucket, addressing the issue of slow penetration when using conventional drill buckets for direct drilling.
Special Working Condition Efficiency Enhancement Modification: By adjusting the drill bit cone angle and tooth arrangement parameters to adapt to low-torque drilling rigs, such as optimizing the cone angle from 120° to 82°, the bit tooth specific pressure can be increased. This enables underpowered rigs to successfully drill through gravel and mud shale formations, raising the drilling speed from almost no progress to 0.6 m/h.
