The short spiral drill bit is primarily used for efficient drilling in hard formations during rotary drilling operations, serving as a key tool for handling complex geology in large-diameter rotary drilling. Its specific applications span multiple core scenarios and process stages.
📍 Typical Formation Drilling Applications
Gravel and boulder formations: The single-cone single-roller short spiral bit is suitable for loose, cemented formations containing large-diameter pebbles. It can directly remove large-sized boulders from the borehole through the spiral blades, preventing bit sticking. It is often used in alternating operations with sand retrieval buckets to complete debris removal.
Weathered rock layer drilling: The tooth density of the double-cone double-spiral short spiral drill bit is 1.5 to 2 times that of the single-cone single-spiral bit, with synchronized cutting by dual drill teeth for smoother drilling, making it suitable for strongly weathered, medium to small-sized gravel layers. The small-cone-angle short spiral drill bit can tackle moderately weathered and weakly weathered hard rock layers under high drilling pressure.
Dry drilling without mud: In stable strata without groundwater, the hole is formed directly using a short spiral drill bit, eliminating the need for mud wall protection. This significantly reduces on-site pollution and is suitable for foundation construction in urban areas or water-scarce regions.
