The correct application of oil drill pipes can help reduce procurement costs and decrease the likelihood of accidents.
Firstly, while meeting the strength requirements, choose low steel grade drill rods as much as possible. The higher the steel grade, the greater the yield strength of the pipe and the various strengths of the drill rod.
During the drilling process, it is necessary to select a reasonable rotational speed and drilling pressure based on the formation, wellbore diameter, and lower drilling tool configuration to ensure that the drilling tools are in ideal working condition and improve drilling efficiency.
Regularly inspect the drill pipe, including surface cracks, scratches, thread integrity, joint eccentric wear, shoulder surface flatness, etc. If conditions permit, ultrasonic testing should be conducted periodically on the drill pipe body, and magnetic particle testing should be performed on the threaded parts.
When storing drill pipes, they should be stored in a dry, non corrosive environment, away from direct sunlight and high temperatures. Drill rods stored outdoors for a long time should be covered with rainproof tarpaulins and regularly inspected for corrosion on the inner and outer surfaces of the drill rods.
To have the correct disassembly method, initially use low gear and maintain a certain tension on the hook spring to ensure that there is no pressure between the threaded surfaces of the two joints.
When using drill rods, fuel can be saved by using high-quality drill bits, combining drilling tools reasonably, and avoiding prolonged idling. And attention should be paid to environmental requirements, such as handling drilling fluid and preventing leaks.
In summary, the correct application of petroleum drill pipes requires comprehensive consideration from multiple aspects such as selection, use, maintenance, and storage to ensure the safety, efficiency, and environmental protection of drilling operations.
