By optimizing material selection, improving operational skills, strengthening drilling fluid management, maintaining equipment, and improving drilling tool design, various measures can be taken to effectively reduce the wear of drill string and improve drilling efficiency and safety.
1. Develop and use high-strength and wear-resistant materials as drilling rod materials, such as lightweight aluminum alloys. At the same time, improving the processing technology and conducting heat treatment can refine and perfect the internal structure of the drill rod, enhancing its wear resistance. Thicker pipe walls are used in key areas of the drill pipe, such as the ends of thickened sections and near joints, to enhance its resistance to bending and wear.
2. Control the verticality of the borehole, reduce the contact area between the drill string and the borehole wall, and lower the degree of friction. And reasonably control the speed to reduce vibration and bending wear. When pulling a stuck drill rod, operate smoothly to avoid excessive upward pulling force that may cause tensile failure.
3. Using solid free drilling fluid effectively reduces the viscosity and density of the drilling fluid, and minimizes erosion and wear on the drill string. Raise the pH value of the drilling fluid to suppress the corrosion of the drill string by acidic gases. Use oxygen scavengers and other inhibitors to reduce the oxygen content in drilling fluid and decrease the occurrence of oxidative corrosion.
4. After using the drilling tools for a period of time, even if no obvious damage occurs, regular flaw detection inspections should be carried out to promptly detect and address potential issues. When the drill rod is worn to a certain extent, it should be replaced with a new drill rod or worn parts in a timely manner to avoid further exacerbating the wear.
Regular inspection and maintenance to ensure that drilling tools meet the requirements of drilling design. At the same time, pay attention to checking whether there are scars on the drilling tools that may cause fatigue damage, such as arc burns and large clamp injuries.
5. Reasonably design the structure and size of drill pipes, reduce stress concentration points, and improve the fatigue resistance of drill pipes. Heavy duty drill rods are used in the heavy working section and curved wellbore section to reduce the stress level of these sections and extend the service life of the drill string.
