Basic function: Petroleum drill pipe is a long and sturdy metal column, usually assembled from several steel pipes, used to connect surface equipment of drilling rigs with drilling and grinding equipment or bottom hole devices located at the bottom of the drilling rig. Its main functions include lowering the drill bit, applying drilling pressure, transmitting power, and transporting drilling mud to the drill bit.
Characteristics: Oil drill pipes must be able to withstand vibration and heavy loads under high pressure and high temperature environments, as well as complex stresses such as enormous internal and external pressure, distortion, and bending. Therefore, the selection of drill pipe material, processing technology, and structural design are all crucial.
