The maintenance of non-magnetic drill rods is crucial for ensuring their normal use and extending their service life. The following are some important matters regarding the maintenance of non-magnetic drill rods:
1. Preparation before initial use: Before initial use, the protective grease on the threads of the new drill pipe should be wiped clean, and the inner wall of the drill pipe should be cleaned with air or water. Afterwards, thread oil should be applied to the inner and outer threads of the drill pipe to prevent damage to the threads or sticking.
2. Precautions for drilling operation: During the drilling process, it is advisable to ensure that the drilling is vertical as much as possible to avoid drilling deviation or bending, in order to avoid premature wear of the drill rod. In addition, a starting rod should be connected between the impactor and the first drill pipe to prevent premature damage to the first drill pipe.
3. Attention during connection: Every time the drill pipe is connected, thread oil should be applied to the drill pipe thread and the drill pipe should be tightened. Not tightening may lead to loose threaded connections, causing threads to grind against each other and tip, resulting in thread damage or sticking. At the same time, not tightening may also lead to the female buckle step not being tightened, causing air leakage problems, and in severe cases, may cause fatigue fracture at the root of the male joint thread.
4. Regular maintenance and inspection: Drill pipes need to undergo regular maintenance, determine the maintenance cycle, and undergo rust and dust prevention treatment. After use, the bending degree and thread condition of the drill pipe should be checked. If the bending degree exceeds the standard requirements or the thread is damaged, causing abnormal operation, it should be promptly scrapped or returned to the factory for repair.
5. Drilling depth and geological conditions: It should be ensured that the drilling depth of the drill pipe meets the relevant requirements of geological drilling to prevent the occurrence of detachment due to the drilling depth reaching the limit of the drill pipe's use.
6. Work environment considerations: When working in acidic and alkaline areas, special attention should be paid to the corrosive effect on drill pipes. After drilling is completed, the surface of the rod should be cleaned with clean water in a timely manner to remove the corrosive layer.
7. Storage and handling: Drill pipes should be stored in a dry place and supported at multiple points at the bottom. Regular maintenance and upkeep should be carried out on drill pipes during long-term storage. At the same time, drill pipes shall not be used as support platforms for heavy tail stacking, nor shall they be placed under crushed stones, coal piles or scattered to prevent damage.
Following the above precautions can effectively maintain non-magnetic drill pipes, ensure their performance, and extend their service life. At the same time, attention should also be paid to following the specific maintenance guidelines and recommendations provided by the manufacturer to ensure the best maintenance effect.
