Directional joint: mainly used in conjunction with a bent screw to seat the inclinometer inside the directional key sleeve, for directional well inclination, twisting direction, lateral drilling, and vertical well correction.Usage requirements: Before going down the well, check whether the position of the directional key is consistent with the direction of the external scale line, whether the directional sleeve is firm, and whether the outer diameter is worn. The main function of directional joints is to provide a stable sealing environment for directional instruments (gyroscopes, etc.), making it easy to accurately know the direction of downhole tools such as motors, and ensuring the smooth progress of lower operations.

There are currently two commonly used directional joints in China: directional direct joints and directional bending joints. The directional head is used for directional drilling with curved shell screw drilling tools, and the directional bending joint is used for directional drilling with straight shell screw drilling tools. Directional bending joints are currently widely used due to their characteristics of simple manufacturing, convenient use, and low cost.

The directional head is mainly used in conjunction with the curved shell screw drilling tool for directional drilling, allowing the inclinometer to be seated inside the directional key sleeve, for the purpose of directional well inclination, directional twist, lateral drilling, and vertical well correction. It has the advantages of simple structure, convenient use, and low cost.

Directional bending joint is used for directional drilling of straight shell screw drilling tools. Directional bending joint is one of the main tools for power drilling tool inclination. The power drilling tool exerts a continuous lateral force on the drill bit under the action of the bending joint, causing the drill bit to continuously cut the wellbore wall laterally and drill into a curved wellbore trajectory. It has the advantages of simple structure, convenient use, and low cost.
