Drill collars are important drill string components in petroleum and geological drilling. They are located at the bottom of the drill string and are the main component of the lower drilling tool assembly. Its characteristic lies in its large wall thickness, which is generally equivalent to 4-6 times the thickness of the drill pipe wall, and it has a large gravity and stiffness.

The main functions of drill collars include:
1. Apply drilling pressure to the drill bit to effectively break the rock and achieve drilling.
2. Ensure the necessary strength under compression conditions and ensure the safe operation of the drilling process.
3. Reduce the vibration, swing, and jumping of the drill bit, making it work smoothly and improving drilling efficiency.
4. Combined with the use of stabilizers, a rigid drill string is formed to prevent bending of the lower drill string and avoid causing wellbore deviation.
